2027 WeTeach_Quantum Summit
Quantum information science and technology (QIST) is rapidly transforming sensing, computing, communications, and national security, yet the educational pipeline feeding the quantum workforce remains largely underdeveloped. This project will convene the first national summit dedicated exclusively to K-12 quantum education, bringing together educators, curriculum developers, researchers, policymakers, and industry partners to accelerate the development of a coherent and rigorous K-12 quantum education ecosystem.
The WeTeach_Quantum Summit: A National Conference to Build a K-12 Quantum Education Ecosystem and Advance the Quantum Workforce Pipeline (NSF Award #2628651) will be held at The University of Texas at Austin's Texas Advanced Computing Center in Austin, TX on Saturday, February 6, 2027.

Hub Information and Application
Investing in Texas' Secondary School Educators
The WeTeach_Quantum Hub is a professional development initiative designed to help Texas educators introduce foundational quantum concepts to their students.
Through a dedicated cohort model, educators will strengthen their content knowledge and pedagogy by participating in a series of workshops and will receive classroom-ready lessons aligned with physics, cybersecurity, and computer science.
Important Application Dates
Educators are allowed to participate in only one hub per year, as scheduling conflicts prevent concurrent participation in multiple hubs.

The application process for this program consists of completing the application form. Data provided is necessary for reporting purposes.
You must be a certified Texas teacher and currently employed by a Texas K-12 institution to be eligible.
Participants will be notified of acceptance as soon as they are selected. Space is very limited, therefore completing the application process does NOT guarantee placement in the program.
Educators are allowed to participate in only one WeTeach_CS hub per year, as scheduling conflicts prevent concurrent participation in multiple hubs. Hubs will have priority over other WeTeach_CS events and trainings.
Program Dates
Applicants must attend the in-person Summer, Fall, and Spring Professional Development Workshops which are scheduled for the dates below:
In-Person Training (attendance required)
- WeTeach_CS Summit: June 15-16, 2026 (San Antonio)
- Quantum Deep Dive: June 17-18, 2026 (San Antonio)
- Quantum Summer Institute: July 6-10, 2026 (Austin)
- Academic Year Workshops: One date (TBD) in Fall 2026 and one date in Spring 2027 (TBD) (Austin)
Six lessons aligned to computer science, physics, and cybersecurity will be provided to teachers.
All teachers in the WeTeach_Quantum Hub are expected to implement a minimum of one lesson in the 2026-2027 school year in order to receive their full professional development stipend of $1,500.
Transportation reimbursement and lodging will be provided to teachers selected for the required in-person trainings listed above.
Application Process
The application process for this program consists of completing the information below. All information in the application form must be filled in completely, as the information is necessary for reporting purposes.
You must be a certified Texas teacher and currently employed by a Texas K-12 institution to be eligible. Texas high school teachers of computer science, cybersecurity, math, chemistry, engineering, and physics or whose district plans to have them teach one of these courses in 26-27 and/or 27-28 will be given priority.
Participants will be notified of acceptance no later than March 15, 2026. Space is very limited, therefore completing the application process does NOT guarantee placement in the program.
All applications must be accompanied by a Letter of Support submitted by email.
The letter, signed by either your campus administrator or district coordinator, must endorse your participation in the WeTeach_Quantum Hub, including a commitment to cover substitute costs for two days of your professional development in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. The letter must also indicate allowability of lesson implementation in your district.
