WeTeach_CS Secondary Certification Hubs

Certification in Grades 8-12 CS and EC-12 Technology Applications

Hubs help TX teachers to gain certification in Grades 8-12 CS and EC-12 Technology Applications. Hubs offer a series of professional development experiences for a cohort of teachers covering all of the content and domains of the certification exams.

They include both in-person and virtual learning opportunities, mentorship, and connections to a community of other teachers and content experts all working to broaden participation in computer science. Teachers participating in Certification Hubs earn stipends for both completing professional development and earning certification.

TExES 241 CS 8-12 Certification Pathway Benefits

  • Professional Development Stipend $2,000 — Teachers must complete outlined activities, challenge their exam, and provide test results by domain in order to qualify for this stipend.
  • Additional $1,000 for success on CS 8-12 certification exam
  • Testing fee reimbursed for up to two exam attempts

TExES 242 EC-12 Technology Applications Certification Pathway Benefits

  • Professional Development Stipend $800 (paid by Hub) — Teachers must complete outlined activities, challenge their exam, and provide test results by domain in order to qualify for this stipend
  • Optional curricular training stipend $450 (paid by hub) — All teachers in the EC-12 Tech Apps pathway will have an option to attend curricular training in Summer 2025 with academic year follow up sessions
  • Testing fee reimbursed for two exam attempts (paid by Hub)
  • Additional $200 for successfully passing the EC-12 Tech Apps exam and obtaining certification (paid by WTCS)
